artist www.DesignAndBeMary.com Married 3 1)graduated and went to The College of St. Benedict, majoring in art/art education and graduating in 1974. 2)I student taught at Mariner in art in winter 1973-74. 3) life changing event - spent time doing social work in Appalachia (Kentucky)the 2nd poorest county in the US in 1973 4) taught HS art at Rosemount and Apple Valley High schools from 1974-1979. Also coached 2 years of girls basketball during this time - lol! girls thought it was pretty novel to have an art teacher as a coach! 5) Met my husband at Rosemount - he was head of the art dept and 'hired' me!!! We married in 1977. 6)After teaching I sold my art professionally including being a Master Artisan at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for 14 years.7) In 1987, my health gave out and life changed - couldn't work full time at anything, but did try to continue to work with various art media as much as I could. 8) I have many interests - art,sewing/quilting, music (I play several instruments - for fun and not necessarily with great skill!- played guitar at our church for over 20 years), traveling, reading, gardening, camping, the outdoors..9)I've attended a Hopi kiva dance, walked on the ocean floor in the Bay of Funday, walked on glaciers, flown in a bush plane, walked in lava tunnels, gave birth to a son and 2 daughters and held my father's hand as he died. 10)I enjoy having a canine companion - currently an Aussie named Reka - and we play 'who's smarter than an Aussie?!" LOL! 2019-09-02 18:26:57
I'm thinking that I probably know many of you by name and with the help of photos, but I'm also thinking that many of you have no memory of me.  I worked at Reed Drug during my high school years leaving little time for many of the social activities etc, that might have encouraged more friendships.  Never dated much and never went to a prom ( I think I did go to one Sadie Hawkins?). My close friends were in the class of 1973 and 1972 - so it was a bit lonely when they graduated.  I still stay in touch with them.  I did hang around with the German club people.  I found it difficult to make close friends in such a large class, but did enjoy my years at WBHS.  I am amazed and sad to see the number of our classmates that have passed on - expecially the ones that also went to St. Mary's grade school. I enjoyed growing up in WB and miss the artistic interests of the community.  Not sure I will be attending the reunion - the timing isn't the best, but will see what might be worked out.  I do thank those of you who are working on this.  At our age, it is nice to reconnect and remember the years we spent together during our life journeys - even if it is just via this website.  Here's to the class of 1970!
